EMEX 2025: Britain Wants Clean Energy Leadership - Now It Must Back It
The EMEX 2025 conference at ExCeL London brought together hundreds of organisations, innovators, estates leaders and sustainability professionals from across the UK energy landscape. Alderbourne Advisors was pleased to attend this year’s event, with our Director, David Moore, delivering remarks on the Wates Innovation Partner stand on behalf of our client UKSOL about the future of British-led solar manufacturing.
A moment of clarity for UK energy
If one theme dominated EMEX this year, it was this:
Britain wants clean energy it can trust — and it wants more of it made here at home.
From public-sector estates teams to private-sector decarbonisation leads, the conversations were remarkably aligned. The UK is no longer satisfied with clean energy solutions imported from unstable supply chains or opaque global markets. Ethical manufacturing, transparency, and British accountability have become decisive factors in the procurement decisions of major organisations.
British solar on the Wates Innovation Stand
One of the most powerful examples came from our client UKSOL, one of Britain’s only independent British solar brands, showcased as a Wates Innovation Partner. As part of the Wates Innovation Network – a programme that identifies and elevates proven, credible sustainability technologies – UKSOL demonstrated what British-led clean-energy manufacturing is capable of.
Visitors repeatedly raised concerns about:
Global supply-chain instability
Forced-labour risks in overseas manufacturing
Long-term warranty accountability
The lack of a British solar manufacturing base
The appetite for a home-grown alternative was unmistakeable.
Alderbourne’s role in Britain’s clean energy transformation
Alderbourne Advisors works with emerging clean-technology firms, advanced manufacturers, and energy innovators to help them:
Position themselves within the national energy conversation
Build strategic partnerships with industry and government
Develop compelling public affairs and media strategies
Navigate the policy and regulatory landscape
Communicate their value to investors, customers, and policymakers
EMEX 2025 reinforced why this work matters. Many British innovators are ready to scale, invest and lead — but too often lack the visibility, political engagement, or policy support that international competitors take for granted.
A growing gap between ambition and delivery
The UK’s ambition for clean power by 2030 remains significant, but EMEX exposed a growing tension in the market:
Organisations want British-made technology
Manufacturers are ready to deliver it
Yet policy signals and government engagement remain inconsistent
For Britain to rebuild a resilient energy economy, the UK must champion the manufacturers who are prepared to build here — not overlook them in favour of imported solutions.
Looking ahead
Alderbourne will continue to support British clean-energy innovators who are building real industrial capacity, restoring skills, and strengthening the nation’s energy security.
EMEX 2025 confirmed what many in the sector already know:
The future of British energy must be British-made — and Alderbourne intends to help lead that transformation.
